UPDATE: Fairfield Warde Students Involved in Crash; Passenger in Critical Condition
The accident occurred on Knapps Highway Wednesday morning.

The passenger of Wednesday morning’s crash is in critical condition, NBC Connecticut reports.

NBC reports the teens left Fairfield Warde around 11 a.m. in a Jeep traveling at a “high rate of speed” westbound on Knapps Highway. The Jeep skidded sideways when the driver tried to turn and smashed into the utility pole.
Knapps Highway is expected to be closed for the remainder of the night.

Two Fairfield Warde students were seriously injured in Wednesday morning’s crash that snapped a utility pole on Knapps Highway, according to the Connecticut Post.
The Post reports that the students, a 19-year-old and 17-year-old, were extricated from the vehicle and suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.
Their identities and conditions weren’t immediately available.
Knapps Highway was still closed as of 2:30 p.m.

Knapps Highway between Alvin and Bullard Streets has been closed as emergency crews respond to a crash, the Connecticut Post reports.
A vehicle struck a utility pole on Knapp’s Highway around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning and the driver needed to be extricated, according to the Post.
