FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield Warde High School students exhibited a "burst of creativity and marketing brilliance" this week as part of the school's annual "Go Big or GOURD Home!" Product Pumpkin Patch project, overseen by Business Curriculum Liaison Robin Terwilliger.

The project calls for Terwilliger's marketing students to transform pumpkins into innovative representations of existing products, and the students did not disappoint.

Among the pumpkin creations were an M&M candy character, a pair of Apple Airpods, and a Popsicle Snow Cone, among others.

From Terwilliger's announcement:

Students at Fairfield Warde High School were challenged to prepare and report on marketing research about various existing products. Through research and analysis, they delved into the intricacies of SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunity and Threats) & PEST (Political, Economical, Social, and Technological) analysis, Marketing Mix, Marketing Segmentation, and Competitive Positioning, utilizing a range of research tools and methodologies.

Their secondary assignment was to convert this knowledge into creative masterpieces using pumpkins as their canvas. The challenge was to transform these humble gourds into striking resemblances of the existing products or services they were studying, and the results were “Gourdeous.”

The Warde Product Pumpkin Patch not only showcases the students' deep understanding of marketing principles but also highlights their artistic flair and creativity. The vibrant and diverse display of pumpkins serves as a testament to the students' hard work, dedication, and imaginative thinking. It is not only a fun and creative exercise but also a reflection of the students' ability to think outside the box.
