Fairfield Woman Accused of Assaulting Husband While He Was Sleeping
The woman allegedly punched her husband in the face and threatened him with a butcher knife.

A Fairfield woman was arrested late Friday night for allegedly attacking her husband while he slept, including punching him in the face and threatening him with a butcher knife, according to the Fairfield Citizen.
The Citizen reports that Karen Smith, 40, of Taunton Road, is accused of attacking her husband as he slept in a spare bedroom with the couple’s 8-year-old daughter.
The husband told police that he awoke to find Smith on top of him, hitting him in the face before she went to get the butcher knife but he was able to wrestle it away from her in the hallway, according to the Citizen.

The daughter confirmed the husband’s version of the story while police said Smith kept changing the subject and refused to elaborate on why she was arguing with her husband and appeared to be intoxicated, according to the Citizen.
The Citizen reports that Smith was also arrested last December for allegedly trying to take another woman’s purse and license plate. Smith suspected that the woman was having an affair with her husband and told police she wanted to get her license plate number and identification, according to the Citizen.
