FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield resident who found herself trapped on the roof of her home Saturday was rescued by firefighters.

The homeowner called emergency personnel because she had been cleaning her gutter but was unable to get onto a ladder and was stuck on the roof, according to the Fairfield Fire Department. Firefighters brought her safely to the ground in the basket of a firetruck, the department said in a Facebook post.

“Keeping with tradition of helping our community in any way we can, Firefighter Ed Walsh donned the resident’s leaf blower and finished cleaning the gutters,” the post said.
