Fairfield's Public High Schools Among CT's Top 25: New Survey

FAIRFIELD, CT — Both Fairfield Warde and Fairfield Ludlowe high schools in Fairfield ranked in the top 25 for Niche.com's latest annual list of Connecticut's best public high schools.

Fairfield Warde was ranked 10th, with its overall Niche grade an A+. It received A's for Academics, Teachers and College Prep. The school also received A-'s for Clubs & Activities and Administration, and a B+ for diversity.

Fairfield Ludlowe was ranked 23rd, with its overall grade an A from Niche. It also received A's for Academics, Teachers and College Prep, and an A- for Clubs & Activities. For Diversity, the school received a B-, and for Administration, it received a B.

Connecticut's best public high school is Westport's Staples High School, which is ranked 144th in the nation. New Canaan High School and Darien High School are Connecticut's second and third best.

Patch reached out to Interim Schools Superintendent Dr. Stephen Tracy for comment, but did not immediately receive a reply.

Niche said its rankings differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents. Additionally, its rankings also include quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.

The rankings were created to provide families with valuable information — both quantitative and qualitative — on schools in their area or in a neighborhood they're not familiar with yet, according to Niche.

As in previous years, the Best Schools rankings include categories for boarding, charter and magnet schools as well as schools for STEM and the arts among many others.
