Bridgeport Man Dies in I-95 Crash in Fairfield
The victim was ejected from the vehicle while three others were injured in the early Tuesday morning crash.
A Bridgeport man was ejected from a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene of an early Tuesday morning multi-vehicle crash in Fairfield.
The accident occurred around 3 a.m. between Exits 22 and 23 on I-95 North and shut down all lanes for several hours, which forced heavy traffic onto local streets where an 85-year-old was involved with a fatal accident on Black Rock Turnpike in a tragic day in Fairfield.
In the first crash, two vehicles were traveling on I-95 northbound — a Honda Accord with a single occupant in the center lane and a Mazda Protege occupied by three people was in the left lane.

The Protege veered right into the center lane and sideswiped the Accord, State Police said. The Accord came to rest in the right lane while the Protege veered off the right shoulder and into an embankment.
Front seat passenger Demonte Anozine, 20, of Bridgeport was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fairfield Firefighters arrived on scene and initiated rescue efforts to free two trapped victims using the jaws of life and other rescue tools. Firefighters were able to extricate both victims in less than 10 minutes.
The driver of the Protege, Amairani Cuevas, 19, of Stratford, and the back seat passenger, Kastiry Collazo, 19, of Bridgeport, were both transported to Bridgeport Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Accord was driven by Robin King, 56, of East Haven, and she was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
“Our firefighters and the medics from AMR worked together to provide exceptional emergency medical care to the victims and to rapidly extricate them from a very heavily damaged vehicle,” Fairfield Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola, the incident commander, said. “The loss of life which occurred prior to our arrival is tragic, and our thoughts and prayers are extended to the victim and his family.”
The accident remains under investigation.
Others involved in the accident sustained minor injuries.
