FAIRFIELD, CT — A fireworks display at Brooklawn Country Club over the weekend resulted in complaints from residents in the Stratfield area, and an apology from Fairfield police for not doing a better job of notifying the neighborhood.

The display was Sunday night, and the department said it heard from residents who "have voiced concern and frustration with a recent fireworks display and the lack of advanced notification."

According to the department, the display was handled by a professional company, and the club received proper permits and approval for it.

"We recognize that residents could benefit from advanced notification for these types of events, similar to the one sent recently when Sacred Heart University hosted a Fireworks display on October 14, 2022," Fairfield police wrote on Twitter. "We apologize for any inconvenience and have put procedures in place to ensure proper notifications are sent moving forward."
