The most prominent item on the agenda is an address on the State of the Town by First Selectperson Christine Vitale, which is scheduled early in the meeting. Such addresses typically provide an overview of municipal operations, priorities, and challenges, though the agenda does not specify particular topics to be covered.

Vitale was scheduled to give a similar address this week before the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.

The RTM is also scheduled to receive multiple reports related to town operations, enforcement, and public safety. These include a report from the First Selectperson or her designee on leases of town-owned properties, as well as a report from the town’s Blight Officer concerning condemnation and blight issues.

Public safety-related reporting is expected from the Police Department, with the police chief or a designee scheduled to present a full list of noise complaints received. Another report from the First Selectperson’s office is scheduled to address the recovery of costs tied to properties associated with breaches of the peace, public disturbances, and disorderly conduct. The Traffic Authority is also scheduled to report on its recent activities.

The meeting agenda includes several items requiring possible action by the RTM. Members are scheduled to consider and act on minutes from meetings held in December, as well as a series of appointments and reappointments to town boards and commissions.

Those include a proposed appointment to the Ethics Commission, reappointments to the Fair Rent Commission, an appointment to the Dwight School Building Committee to fill a vacancy, and multiple appointments to the Board of Assessment Appeals for hearing and decision sessions during 2026.

The RTM is also scheduled to hear, consider, and act upon a resolution approving a fourth modification of a right of repurchase agreement involving Rooster River Plaza LLC and Unit No. 1 at 501 Kings Highway East, a property that houses the town’s Education Center.

No live public comment will be permitted unless called for by the moderator during the meeting. Residents are encouraged to submit written comments to the RTM through the town’s website. Backup documents related to agenda items are available online.

An RTM informational meeting was scheduled for Jan. 20, also at the Education Center and via Zoom.
