Former Nursing Aide Sentenced for Sexually Assaulting Patients

Gonzalo Flores, a former nursing aide at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting seven male hospital patients, including a Fairfield man, during a three-year period, according to the Connecticut Post.
The Post reports Flores, 54, was sentenced on Friday to 20 years, suspended after 15 years, in prison followed by 10 years of probation and he must register as a sex offender.
Flores, who has tested positive for HIV, was fired by the hospital in June 2014 after a 47-year-old Fairfield man told police that he woke up from a medically induced coma to find Flores fondling his genitals, according to the Post.

St. Vincent’s faces nearly $100 million in lawsuits by the victims, including a $25 million lawsuit filed by the Fairfield man.
Flores apologized for the assaults and a statement from the Fairfield father of two was read in court on Friday, according to the Post.
