Future Of Fairfield Business In Jeopardy Due To UI Project: Report
Some properties in Fairfield could face eminent domain due to the new United Illuminating transmission line, including Boccarossa Insurance.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Boccarossa Insurance, a longtime full-service insurance company at 1828 Post Road in Fairfield, could be forced to move if United Illuminating's proposed transmission line upgrade project comes to fruition, News 12 Connecticut reported.
Businessowner Stephen Boccarossa is one of several interveners in the proposed project, which has an evidentiary hearing Thursday before the Connecticut Siting Council.
He faces the loss of his property through the possibility of eminent domain, a prospect he said is "disturbing."

Under the proposal, UI would install more than 60 metal utility monopoles for more than seven miles along the railroad corridor through parts of Fairfield and Bridgeport. The monopoles would carry high-voltage power lines, many of which would tower above the skyline more than 100 feet in the air.
A growing contingent of Fairfield residents and businesses oppose the plan, and want to see the power lines buried underground, instead of negatively impacting the town's aesthetics.
