Heavy Rain And Accumulating Snow In CT's Weather Forecast

This is shaping up to be a really interesting weather week as Connecticut may see heavy rain and accumulating snow. Here are the new details

CONNECTICUT — This weather forecast is almost a bit too insane to believe. The National Weather Service says rain is expected to break out in time for the Monday morning commute, continue all day into early Tuesday, and the precipitation is forecast to end as possibly a few inches of snow for the Wednesday morning commute.

That is a lot to digest right there. And making this a bit more crazy is it's supposed to be near 60 degrees on Tuesday and then possibly accumulating snow, just hours later. We'll see.

The National Weather Service says temps begin to moderate tonight and the chance for rain increases after midnight, especially near the coast.

"Rain will become more widespread into the day on Monday and into Monday evening. The winds will begin to increase and gust to near 30 mph later Monday afternoon and evening across eastern coastal sections. The rain will then taper off late Monday night with just some leftover showers into Tuesday morning. Temperatures will climb well above normal on Monday, with the unseasonably mild temperatures lasting through the day on Tuesday."

"Rain is expected to redevelop during Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night as a cold front approaches from the west. Colder air will begin to move in during Tuesday night as any rain will mix with and change to snow from west to east across the region later Tuesday night into Wednesday morning."

"There is the potential for a few inches of snow resulting in hazardous travel conditions into the Wednesday morning commute," the National Weather Service says.

Again to recap, Connecticut could see an inch or two of rain from early Monday through Tuesday morning and then possibly accumulating snow early Wednesday. The weather service is predicting 1 to 3 inches of snow for southern Connecticut and 2 to 5 inches for northern Connecticut.
