House Fire Extinguished In Fairfield: Fire Department
The blaze was reported Sunday near the intersection of Sherwood Place and Pease Avenue in the Southport.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield firefighters battled a house fire Sunday evening near the intersection of Sherwood Place and Pease Avenue in the Southport, according to fire officials.
Heavy smoke and visible flames were seen by firefighters as they arrived at the home just before 7:30 p.m., and a header of smoke was even visible from I-95.
"Engine 4, under the command of acting lieutenant Hugh Dolan, quickly advanced a hose line to the backyard, where they encountered heavy flames on the rear exterior of the house, extending toward the attic and worked to knock down the fire," wrote Fairfield Fire Lt. Robert F. Smith Jr. in a statement.

Engine 2, commanded by Lt. Chris Eidam, stretched a second line inside the home to combat the flames on the first floor at the rear of the home.
The fire was brought under control in minutes, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fairfield Fire Marshal's Office.
