This free workshop for adults and children, will highlight The Hunchback of Notre Dame from its inception as a novel written by Victor Hugo of Les Miserables, to its transformation into the famed Disney film, to its adaption into the musical that New Paradigm Theatre will be performing this August at Fairfield Theatre Company. Artistic Director, Broadway veteran, and college professor Kristin Huffman will be describing the creative process and New Paradigm Theatre’s vision for Hunchback, as the company prepares to stage the musical adaptation. New Paradigm Theatre’s talented college interns will be assisting and performing some of the show’s famous songs at the workshop.
This event comes in preparation for New Paradigm Theatre’s upcoming summer production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Directed by Broadway veterans and TV stars Scott Bryce and Jodi Stevens. Each year NPT partners with another nonprofit that reflects the theme of the summer production. This year, NPT is proud to partner with the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving and caring for survivors of burns, as well as providing awareness and education for preventing burn injuries. These survivors are often treated like outsiders or “other than” just like our Hunchback. As partnerships between the nonprofit and for-profit world continue to form in order to tackle social challenges from all sides, this type of collective impact production has become increasingly relevant and a vital component of a community.
While admission is free to this event we request that you RSVP by writing to: publicprograms@pequotlibrary.org
Discounted tickets for the summer production will be available for purchase for those attending this event.
The musical will be performed at Fairfield Theatre Company on August 18th at 1pm and 8pm, and August 19th at 3pm. Regular tickets are available at nptheatre.org or by calling the Fairfield Theatre company box office 203.259.1036
