ID Released Of Victim In Fatal Garbage Truck Crash In Fairfield

An employee of United Carting was killed in last week's crash.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The name of the United Carting employee who was killed in a garbage truck crash last week in Fairfield has been released by authorities.

Bryan L. Rodriguez, 28, of Bridgeport, was outside when he was hit by the truck near Camfield and Bloomfield drives at about 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 11. The driver of the truck, also a United Carting employee, suffered injuries in the crash.

The Fairfield Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the crash, but preliminary information from the case has not been released.

In his obituary, Rodriguez was described as "a man of faith and went home to God with a free spirit."

A wake is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary R.C. Church, 25 Sherman St. in Bridgeport.

All other services will be private, and Rodriguez's family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, friends donate directly to Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home to help offset expenses. Click here for more information.
