Identity Released After Man Dies From Drowning In Fairfield: Police
The victim had gone missing while swimming in the water near Lighthouse Point and Penfield Reef on Saturday, according to authorities.

FAIRFIELD, CT — An Ossining, New York man has been identified as the victim in a fatal drowning over the weekend in the water near Lighthouse Point and Penfield Reef in Fairfield, according to police.
The official cause of death of Luis Llivipuma-Leon, 29, will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Llivipuma-Leon and another man were seen struggling in the water at about 12:10 p.m. on Saturday. Bystanders rescued the other man from the water.

Members of the Fairfield police and fire departments, assisted by other agencies, conducted a search and rescue operation for Llivipuma-Leon, and he was found at about 3 p.m. by the United States Coast Guard using a helicopter.
In addition to the Coast Guard, the other agencies involved in the search included the Westport police and fire departments, Trumbull police, and American Medical Response.

After being transported to shore, Llivipuma-Leon was pronounced dead at the scene.
