Injured Hiker Rescued From Ravine By Fairfield Emergency Crews

The hiker suffered a severe head wound, police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Emergency responders came to the aid Thursday of a man who was seriously injured while hiking and had to be rescued from a ravine. The responders were called about 1:15 p.m. to an area near Samp Mortar Reservoir after the hiker slipped and fell on a rock, according to Fairfield Fire Department Deputy Chief Kyran Dunn.

An emergency dispatcher pinpointed the hiker's call for help, which made it easier for officers to find him in the deep ravine, Fairfield police said in a news release. The hiker suffered a severe head wound and was taken to Norwalk Hospital, according to police.
