John Mayer Gives Shout Out To Fairfield In New York Times Interview
The musician mentioned his hometown during the wide-ranging interview, saying he'll "always be a kid from Fairfield, Connecticut."

FAIRFIELD, CT — Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter John Mayer gave a shout out to his hometown of Fairfield in a wide-ranging interview with the New York Times.
Mayer, 39, has a new album, “The Search for Everything,” coming out next month and was profiled in this past weekend’s New York Times in which music reporter Joe Coscarelli trailed him over the course of a frenetic four days, capped by a three-hour interview over dinner.
The interview was so extensive, Coscarelli had plenty of leftover content that didn’t make it into the full story in the paper. During those outtakes, which were posted on the New York Times’ website, Mayer referred to himself as a “kid from Fairfield, Connecticut.”

The comment came up while Mayer was discussing his desire to possibly be able to settle down some day, especially in light of his brother recently having a daughter.
“I’m still always going to be a kid from Fairfield, Connecticut,” Mayer said in the interview. “They don’t make rock stars in Fairfield, Connecticut. They don’t. They make good people who get a job, get married, they watch TV together, they start a life together and make other good people.”
