Landmark Fish Market To Close In Fairfield
The popular fish market will officially close its doors after New Year's Day.

FAIRFIELD, CT — After 45 years in business, Swanson’s Fish Market in Fairfield will close on New Year’s Day, according to News12 Connecticut. The Swanson family announced the sale of the business leading up to Christmas Eve weekend. Sadly, Swanson’s founder — Jerry Swanson — passed away just days after the sale was announced.
Larissa Swanson, Jerry’s granddaughter, announced in a Facebook post on Dec. 20 that her father had decided to move on to another business venture and sell Swanson’s Fish Market.
“We have been a landmark here in Fairfield County, being voted best seafood for over 30 straight years, so it is a very bittersweet feeling for our family,” Larissa Swanson wrote of the decision to close in the Facebook post. “Swanson’s doors will be officially shut after New Year’s Day, so come down for the holiday and get what you can while it lasts! Thank you all to our loyal customers, we love you.”
