Landmark Store To Close In Fairfield
The store is in the final hours of its 'everything must go' sale after nearly 80 years in business.

FAIRFIELD, CT — After nearly 80 years in business, Harper’s of Fairfield is closing its doors for good next week. The women’s fashion store, which first opened in downtown Bridgeport and eventually moved to 1871 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield, will be closed as of Tuesday, Feb. 19, according to the Connecticut Post.
Owner Jerry Gold told the Post that he’s tired, the timing is right to close and he wants to “go out on top.” The store is in the final hours of its “Going Out Of Business Liquidation Sale” with up to 80 percent off on all furs, shearlings outerwear and accessories, according to a post on its Facebook page. All reasonable offers will be accepted, according to the post.
“For over 77 years, internationally renowned Harpers has met the fashion needs of discerning women,” according to a post on the Harper’s website. “Family-owned and operated with outstanding personal service, Harpers features a complete and extensive collection of furs, shearlings, outerwear, gloves, scarves, fur accessories and fashion jewelry. Harpers is a full-service furrier, providing on-premises cold storage, cleaning, repairs, restyling, appraisals.”
