Letter: Rep. McCarthy Vahey Endorses Fairfield Democrats

"On Tuesday, Fairfield voters will have the opportunity to cast 26 votes for seven different town boards or roles," McCarthy Vahey writes.

To the editor,

Local elections make a tremendous impact on our daily lives. On Tuesday, Fairfield voters will have the opportunity to cast 26 votes for seven different town boards or roles. Don’t forget to turn your ballot over!

We need leaders who will focus on solutions, bring people together rather than divide them, and learn from the past while maintaining a vision for the future. I am proud to support the Democrats on Row A whose expertise, vision, and leadership will help them to do just that. I hope you will join me in supporting them.

Board of Finance candidates Sheila Marmion, Craig Curley and Kevin Starke have a history of service to the community and bring a wealth of civic and financial expertise among the three of them. As a previous RTM member and Selectman, and current Board of Finance member, Sheila has worked collaboratively as both a fiscal steward and strong supporter of education. Kevin and Craig bring decades of private financial expertise, as well as a history of service to the town: Craig leading our Golf Commission and Smith Richardson Building Committee and Kevin as a Scout leader and religious education teacher.

Board of Education candidates Jennifer Jacobsen and Carol Guernsey have been advocating for our students for years, first as parents and PTA volunteers, and now as sitting Board of Education members. The RTM candidates, including my own here in District 4, are committed to quality public schools, data-based decision making, and sound fiscal policy. They are a group of passionate, dedicated and talented leaders.

Our community has many strengths, beginning with our amazing people. Let’s focus on those strengths, the solutions and innovations to face the inevitable challenges ahead, and working together to accomplish shared goals for Fairfield’s future. The Row A Democrats will bring that focus.
