Letter: Selectwoman On Why You Should Vote Democrat Nov. 2
"If you doubt it, be assured your vote matters and you deserve a representative voice; your vote is that voice," Nancy Lefkowitz writes.
Hey Fairfield!
On Nov. 2, you can vote your values. As your selectwoman, I’m compelled to speak up to advocate for mine, and for the candidates who share them; as a Democrat, those candidates are often other Democrats.
Craig Curley, Sheila Marmion and Kevin Starke, running for Board of Finance, are stalwart humans, dedicated to the financial health of Fairfield; they have the professional chops to back them up. They’ll ensure our budgets are well-managed, balanced and avoid burdensome tax increases.

Carol Guernsey and Jenn Jacobsen, running for Board of Education, are committed to the fair and appropriate education of all our kids. Armed with facts (using data and science as their guide) these pro-education candidates will advocate for investments that meet the learning needs of all students (including facility assets) and will attract a high-quality workforce and curriculum that is inclusive and competitive. They believe educational spending shouldn’t go unfettered; they do their homework to make informed decisions.
The Democrats running for re-election to the RTM will continue to ask tough questions, challenge the status quo, and engage in constructive dialogue as a necessary part of good governance; they aren’t obstructionists, they’re advocates working to ensure no one person has absolute power. They’re team players who want to solve problems, not win debates.

Equally accomplished Democrats are running for the first time, offering fresh perspective and a new way of resolving issues. Accountability, inclusivity, transparency, and civility are not only platform promises, but they’re also intrinsic standards of conduct for these newcomers.
In local elections, candidates can win or lose by as little as 18 votes, as was the case when I was the first (and last) Democrat to win a seat on the RTM in D1. If you doubt it, be assured your vote matters and you deserve a representative voice; your vote is that voice and I urge you to use it on Nov. 2.
Very sincerely yours,
Nancy Lefkowitz
Selectwoman
