Letter: In Support Of Bill Perugini

To the editor,

Please consider re-electing Bill Perugini to the Fairfield RTM, District 9, and the position of town constable.

About five years ago there was a knock at my door. I assumed it was a salesperson and didn’t really have time to tell them that, “I wasn’t interested in what they were selling.” I opened the door to a very enthusiastic man standing on the front step. I said to myself, “Oh no, a local politician looking for a vote.” It was Bill Perugini.

What Bill didn’t know is that he was catching me on the wrong day, I was in no mood for BS. That day, I was dealing with a problem that my son was having at school. This was an ongoing issue that had been brewing for months and I was at the end of my rope. The problem was coming to a head that very day.

So, I sat there for a minute or two listening to Bill talk to me about what he had done and would be doing for the community. I didn’t believe a word of it. At that point, I stopped him dead in his tracks and proceeded to explain to him the issue my son was having with the school. A real world problem. I put him right on the spot and asked him what he thought he could do about it.

Bill sat on my front step for 20-30 minutes and asked thoughtful questions related to my issue and how he could help me deal with it. As the conversation continued, I said to myself, “Wow ... finally a guy who gets it, a politician that understands that we all have real problems that require real solutions.”

As the weeks went by, Bill and I stayed in touch. He spent a good number of hours making phone calls and helping me get the school issue settled. In the end, it turned into a very positive situation for my son. Without Bill’s help, the outcome would have been very different.

So, that is Bill Perugini. He is a man who stands up for the people of Fairfield. He is a man that pours his energy into the problems of the community. Isn’t that what we all really want from our elected leaders? Bill is smart, enthusiastic, and knows how to solve real world issues in creative ways. He’s a keeper in my book.

Please consider re-electing Bill Perugini to the Fairfield RTM, District 9, and the position of town constable. Fairfield needs great leaders in the community.
