Lifeguard Shortage Forces Fairfield Beach Season To End Early
A staffing shortage will end Fairfield's beach season early.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Beach season is ending early in Fairfield due to a lifeguard shortage.
Starting Friday, there will be no lifeguards on duty at any of the town's beaches along Long Island Sound or at Lake Mohegan. Beach season was previously scheduled to wrap up Sunday, with the beaches also staffed with lifeguards over Labor Day weekend.
"As there will be no lifeguards on duty, the lakefront will be closed for swimming for the rest of season," according to a news release from the Fairfield Parks & Recreation Department.
