The man, driving a truck reported stolen out of New York, crashed into a guardrail before being caught by a K-9, police said.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A man driving a stolen truck recently fled law enforcement before crashing into a guardrail and being caught by a K-9 in Fairfield, according to state police.
The incident occurred about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, when a truck owned by a furniture company in Deer Park, New York, that had been reported stolen was located by state law enforcement traveling north on Interstate 95 in Fairfield, a police report said. State law enforcement identified the vehicle only as an Isuzu, but the Fairfield Fire Department's report on the incident said it was a white box truck, according to Deputy Chief Kyran Dunn.
Police pulled the vehicle over, but as officers approached, it sped away, according to the report. Law enforcement did not pursue the truck, which continued north in the right shoulder before getting off the interstate at Exit 21, blowing through a stop sign at Mill Plains Road and continuing back on the I-95 ramp, the report said. The vehicle then crashed into roughly 110 feet of metal beam guardrail and rolled onto its side, according to the report.
