Man Found Asleep In Vehicle After Crash; Charged With DUI: Fairfield Police

The man was required to use an ignition interlock device, but his vehicle was not equipped for it, Fairfield police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A man was charged with driving under the influence after he was discovered asleep in a vehicle that had been involved in a crash, according to police.

Paulo Lumfuakiadi, 31, was found about 8:15 a.m. March 24 on Thorpe Street, where he was lying in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle that had its flashers on, police said, noting he did not wake up when officers knocked on the window. The vehicle had been in a crash, but police were unable to determine where it occurred, according to authorities. Lumfuakiadi was also required to use an ignition interlock device, but his vehicle was not equipped for it, police said.

Lumfuakiadi was charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence as a subsequent offense, driving while suspended and failing to carry an insurance card, according to police. He was released on a $5,000 bond, police said.
