Man Robbed Bank for Wedding Funds: Fairfield Police
The suspect in a bank robbery reportedly told police he needed the money because he was getting married later that day.

Fairfield, CT — The man accused of robbing a Webster Bank in May told Fairfield Police he needed the money because he was getting married later that day, according to the Fairfield Citizen.
The Citizen reports Christopher A. Hankins, 24, of Bridgeport turned himself in at police headquarters on Wednesday evening in connection to the May 20 robbery, which occurred at the 1077 Post Road Webster Bank location.
Hankins made off with about $1,900 in cash, which contained a red dye pack that exploded a short distance from the bank, and police believe that he went through with his wedding plans, according to the Citizen.

Police said in a press release after the robbery that the suspect was seen dropping the money onto the ground after the dye pack exploded and fled the scene in a Ford Fusion.
As police continued to investigate the robbery, they released additional information about the suspect and said he had also come into the bank two days prior to the robbery (on May 18). At that time, the man wanted to turn in some loose change that he carried in a plastic Dominos Sugar container.
