Man Shot, Critically Injured Outside Restaurant In Fairfield

The shooting occurred on Tuesday night.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A man was critically injured after apparently accidentally shooting himself outside of a restaurant in Fairfield on Tuesday night, according to police. An employee at Wings Over Fairfield, located at 2075 Black Rock Turnpike, called 911 shortly at about 9:07 p.m. to report a man was shot in the rear of the building.

“Police were on scene within seconds of the 911 call and were directed to the rear of the building where they found a male lying on his back in the rear hallway of the establishment,” police said in a press release. “Fairfield Police Officers immediately rendered first aid to the male victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.”

The man was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery and is currently listed in critical condition. Police said a preliminary investigation and evidence recovered at the scene “revealed that this is an isolated incident and that there is no public threat.”

The incident is being investigated by the Fairfield Police Department Detective Bureau. The Connecticut Post reports that the victim is an employee at the restaurant.
