FAIRFIELD, CT — A Waterbury man with a criminal history is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a bank in Fairfield, according to police.
Juan M. Castillo, 43, was arrested in July on a warrant for a felony charge of third-degree larceny in connection with a transaction at Webster Bank, 1919 Black Rock Turnpike, a police report said.
In April 2019, Castillo withdrew $3,400 from the Fairfield bank the same week counterfeit checks were deposited into his account from an ATM in Yonkers, New York, according to police, who said a senior fraud investigator with Webster Bank notified law enforcement about the incident.
