Man Struck By Pickup Truck After Confronting Car Burglar: Fairfield Police
Police received a 911 call reporting that the man was bleeding from his head and screaming for help in a business parking lot.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A man was struck by a fleeing pickup truck after confronting a suspect who was burglarizing his vehicle late Monday afternoon, according to police. The victim, who suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in the incident, was walking to his vehicle at the end of his workday when he spotted the suspect, according to Lt. Robert Kalamaras.
At about 4:40 p.m. on Sept. 25, Fairfield Police received a 911 call from a customer at Bed Bath & Beyond who said that she just exited the store and found a man lying in the parking lot, bleeding from his head screaming for help, according to Kalamaras. Kalamaras said further investigation revealed that the victim, who works in a nearby business, was walking to his vehicle at the end of his workday and noticed someone inside of it.

“Realizing the suspect was committing a larceny, the victim confronted him,” Kalamaras said in a press release. “The suspect exited the victim’s car and got into what was described as a black Ford F-250 pickup truck with N.Y. registration plates and attempted to flee the scene. The victim grabbed on to the moving truck and was thrown to the ground and struck by the fleeing suspect vehicle.”
Patrols searched the area for the suspect vehicle but were unable to locate it. The vehicle was last seen by a witness traveling eastbound on Kings Highway East toward Grasmere Avenue, according to Kalamaras.

Kalamaras said the victim was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center by AMR for serious but non-life threatening injuries to both lower legs.
