The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

The single most pressing issue facing Fairfield is the issue facing communities across our country, which is the deep political polarization that has happened between people. I think issues that should not be overly political have become so, and and it creates an environment where consensus building and problem solving become seemingly impossible. I intend to bring a willingness to listen actively to other viewpoints and to commit to working collaboratively with others to make fair and reasonable decisions for our town.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I have demonstrated a commitment to public service and helping others throughout my entire adult life, from serving as a full time volunteer in an AmeriCorps affiliated program many years ago to my more recent community service here in Fairfield. In addition, as a social worker, I have a deep understanding of the micro and macro issues that impact community decisions, and as well as the skill set to navigate them effectively with others.

Accomplishments:

I have almost two decades of experience as a professional social worker, and have worked in a variety of situations that have required empathy, excellent communication skills, the ability to handle crisis, and and the willingness to work with others with differing viewpoints. I think this is evidence that I am absolutely qualified for the role of RTM member.

Other issues:

While I am passionate about many issues, particularly education, fiscal responsibility and land use issues, the thing that really defines my campaign platform is my willingness and ability to move beyond politics as usual, and and work collaboratively with others to solve the issues of our town.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I am a person of honesty and integrity, and will not promise things that I can't deliver on. I am committed to listening to all viewpoints, and and ultimately will make decisions in a way that best serves my constituents.
