FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield school recently collected more than $4,000 to help children affected by the war in Ukraine.

The Mill Hill Elementary School community raised the money for Fairfield-based nonprofit Save the Children in a school-wide fundraiser led by fourth-graders Anna Cook and Kate Ryan.

Save the Children’s director of community engagement, Courtney Nields, joined the students March 21 to accept the donation. The money will help children across Ukraine by providing food, water, warm clothing, and hygiene supplies, and also contribute to creating safe spaces where children on the move can read, play and learn.
