The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Fairfield is honored to have Dr. Hilary Blumberg to talk about her work at Yale’s Mood Disorders Research Program. This talk, entitled Brain Development and the Development of Mood Disorders in Adolescence: A View from Neuroimaging, will focus on her findings in the development of disorders in the teenage brain.
As a special treat, NAMI Fairfield is partnering with B Stigma-Free and is celebrating the authors of their 2nd annual essay contest. The stories are powerful, and are intended to break down stigma by inviting people to better understand the experiences of others. The public is invited to attend both the essay celebration and Dr. Blumberg’s presentation. Light refreshments will be served and there is no charge for either event.

Her Mood Disorders Research Program brings together a multi-disciplinary group of scientists to study the genetic and environmental factors that underlie the development of brain differences in mood disorders. Her research includes the use of state-of-the-art brain scanning methods. The Mood Disorders Research Program is regarded internationally as a leading laboratory in the effort to understand the causes of mood disorders and to develop new methods for early detection of mood disorders, more effective interventions, and hopefully future prevention.
