Near & Far Aid Readies for the 2014 Designer House Tour

Tickets are still available for the 2014 Near & Far Aid Designer House Tour which will be held on Friday, May 2nd and will once again feature professionally designed homes in the exclusive enclaves of Fairfield, Southport and Westport. The House Tour will allow patrons to meander the halls and ogle finely decorated homes – from waterfront mansions to back country estates.  To purchase tickets, please go to: http://www.nearandfaraid.org/events.html.

Near & Far Aid provides funding for projects that address the causes and effects of poverty in Fairfield County, and monies raised for the tour go toward supporting programs that help families at risk, adults in crisis, homelessness and elderly care.  Near & Far Aid is composed of all volunteers, and the House Tour is one of its four major fundraising events.

The 2014 Near & Far Aid Designer House Tour: “Celebrating the Art of Living,” offers patrons an extraordinary opportunity to have a private view inside many of the most prestigious properties in Fairfield County, where each moment of life, the important occasions, and the simple, every day events are surrounded by imagination, beauty, style and vision.

A pre-tour breakfast will take place prior to the day’s event at the Patterson Club in Fairfield which will feature a nationally-renowned designer as its keynote speaker Kathryn Ireland who will dazzle the audience with a discussion on style and design. Her signature style has been described as ‘comfortable, bohemian, and family friendly with large doses of color and a lack of orthodoxy.’ Ireland’s fabrics are distributed across the United States and her work has been published internationally including features in People magazine, the Wall Street Journal, and Architectural Digest among others.

The “Toast the Tour” cocktail reception will be held at Fairfield County Hunt Club during the evening of May 2nd. The celebration will be held under a Sperry sailcloth tent on the polo field and will feature a Luxury Car Show presented by Miller Motorcars, savory hors d’oeuvres, top shelf martini and champagne stations as well as specialty hand rolled cigars.
