New Charges Filed Against Fairfield Man In Standoff With Police
Neil Bhatia was taken into custody on Oct. 25, following a standoff with Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — New charges have been filed against Fairfield resident Neil Bhatia, 46, who was arrested by Fairfield police on Oct. 25, after he barricaded himself in his Mona Terrace home.
Bhatia, who has been in custody since the incident, was arrested on a new warrant Wednesday, charging him with:
- Reckless Endangerment, 1st degree
- Disorderly Conduct
- Interfering with an Officer
At the time of the October incident, authorities had gone to Bhatia's home to arrest him on warrants in connection with several counts of violation of a protective order and disorderly conduct.

He refused to leave his home when Fairfield police officers tried to take him into custody, barricading himself inside. Police eventually shot pepper spray into the home, which successfully got him to exit.
Following the incident, Bhatia was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct.

He was arrested Wednesday on the new counts while appearing in Bridgeport Superior Court on other charges.
Bhatia remains in custody on bail of $50,000, and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
"This arrest is a reminder that the Fairfield Police will make every attempt to hold those accountable for their criminal actions that disrupt the peace of the public and potentially place them in danger," officials said.
