Nor'easter Downs Trees, Strands Drivers In Fairfield: Police

In one case, a tree fell on a parked car, according to Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Heavy rainfall led to stranded drivers and blocked roads Tuesday, when a Nor’easter blew through Fairfield, according to police.

The town received roughly 3 inches of precipitation over 24 hours as of about 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to data collected by residents and released by the National Weather Service.

Between midnight and about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Fairfield saw 11 road hazards, including downed trees, branches and wires, and a flooded roadway, police said. Two cars required assistance after driving through deep puddles, according to police, and in one case, a tree fell on a parked car.

There were no lingering closures or floods as of Tuesday night, police said.

Wednesday’s weather is expected to be dryer, but windy, with a slight chance of rain in the morning and gusts up to 41 mph, according to the weather service.
