Nursing Home In Fairfield Fined: Report

The state Department of Public Health fined five nursing homes for various violations, including incidents in which a resident was injured.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Carolton Chronic & Convalescent Hospital in Fairfield was recently fined $3,060 by the state Department of Public Health after a resident fell out of chair while being improperly transported to a shower, according to the Connecticut Health I-Team.

Cara Rosner of the Connecticut Health I-Team reports the resident received 10 sutures at a hospital to close a forehead laceration suffered as a result of the fall. A nurse’s aide tried to the transport the resident to the shower without help, but the resident required the assistance of two staff members to get to the shower room, according to the report.
