FAIRFIELD, CT — A Norwalk teen faces charges after he crashed an SUV into a stone wall, injuring a passenger, according to Fairfield police. First responders received a report about 8:15 a.m. Monday that a Jeep Compass had hit the wall and rolled over in front of a home in the 1400 block of Burr Street, according to a police report.

Chris Lucero, 19, was traveling north in the 2008 Compass when it veered to the right and hit the shoulder culvert, the report said. After the crash, the SUV settled on its side, according to fire department Assistant Chief Erik Kalapir. A passenger in the vehicle suffered a laceration near her eye, according to police. Kalapir said she was taken to a hospital.

Lucero, of Novak Street in Norwalk, had a "strong odor of alcohol" on his breath, according to police. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, failing to drive in the proper lane and driving with a suspended license, the report said. Lucero was released on a $100 cash bond and is set to appear in court Dec. 16, according to police.
