ID Of Pedestrian Killed In Crash Released: Fairfield Police

Police released new details regarding the accident, which involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Police said Meghan Raveis, 45, of Fairfield, was the pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle on Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred in the 500 block of Redding Road just before 3 p.m. Friday. The investigation, led by Fairfield Police Crash Investigation and Reconstruction personnel, has revealed the following details, according to police:

"A pedestrian was walking southbound alongside the northbound travel lane on Redding Road. At approximately 14:55 hours, a southbound vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane, striking a mailbox and then the pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Emergency personnel responded and transported the pedestrian to an area hospital, where she was pronounced deceased," police said in a news release.

The pedestrian has been identified as Raveis, police said.

"The Fairfield Police Department extends our condolences to the Raveis family along with their friends and loved ones during this difficult time. This is still an active investigation as we work to determine the exact cause of the accident," police said.
