Pink Aid’s 8th Annual Luncheon and Auction October 3rd

Pink Aid Provides Breast Cancer Screening and Financial Support During Treatment to Uninsured and Under-Insured Patients in Connecticut.

October shines a pink spotlight on breast cancer with profiles of celebrities with the disease and pink ribbons adorning everything from tissues to gasoline trucks. Sometimes lost in the sea of pink is the plight of underinsured and uninsured women living in our communities and struggling with the added expenses of a serious illness. Oftentimes, they are heads of households, suddenly unable to work, which can throw families into a state of crisis.
While there are many charities that support breast cancer research, Pink Aid's founders saw a staggering need to provide "compassion until there's a cure."
Pink Aid, a Connecticut-based 501C3 charity, was formed in 2011 to help underserved women survive breast cancer treatment with support and dignity. A second chapter, serving Long Island, was started in 2014, and the organization aspires to expand into other communities.

To date between its two chapters in Connecticut and Long Island, Pink Aid has granted out over $4.6 million to pay for essential household expenses, provide screening and diagnostic testing, treatment, recovery garments, and wellness support programs and to fund outreach and education. Many hospitals, grass root organizations, and underserved individuals throughout Connecticut and Long Island have quickly come to rely upon Pink Aid to for help their underserved patients.

Pink Aid's 8th Annual Luncheon at Mitchell's of Westport on Wednesday, October 3rd will showcase the pre-fall collection of designer Lela Rose as well as the interior design community's take on this year's theme, "Blush." Featured speaker will be graphic novelist and breast cancer activist, Marisa Acocella whose first book, Cancer Vixen, tells the story of her eleven-month, ultimately triumphant bout with breast cancer—from diagnosis to cure, and every challenging step in between. The incomparable Marcia Selden Catering will provide lunch and cocktails.
