Police Raid Bridgeport Bar, Cite 85 Sacred Heart University Students for Underage Drinking

Police conducted the raid hours after a man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 19-year-old SHU student he met at the bar.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Following up on the arrest of a Bridgeport man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 19-year-old Sacred Heart University student, Bridgeport Police raided the Golden Star Café on Main Street in Bridgeport and issued infractions to about 100 people for underage drinking and also cited the bar’s owner for liquor violations.

NBC Connecticut reports 85 Sacred Heart University students were cited in the raid for underage drinking.

Bridgeport Police raided the bar hours after Alfonso Reid, 39, of Bridgeport, was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting the 19-year-old student he had met at the bar on March 30, according to NBC. Reid is accused of offering the girl a ride home but took her to his house instead where the alleged assault occurred.

The Connecticut Post reports police conducted the raid on Tuesday night “due to the suspicion of underage patrons being served alcohol.”
