Public Health Leader Honored for Advocacy for Physicians and Patients
State Rep. Cristin McCarthy Vahey to Be Recognized by Greater Bridgeport Medical Association at St. Patrick's Day Fundraising Breakfast
State Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey, who represents Fairfield and Bridgeport in the Connecticut General Assembly and co-chairs the Public Health Committee, will be honored at the Greater Bridgeport Medical Association's (GBMA) St. Patrick’s Day Fundraising Breakfast on Monday, March 17, 2025, at The Castle, Black Rock in Bridgeport.
A champion for healthcare access and policy, Rep. McCarthy Vahey has worked tirelessly to support physicians, patients, and the broader medical community. Since her election to public office in 2005, she has been committed to building healthier, safer, and more inclusive communities by advocating for public health, mental health initiatives, and transportation safety. She has also been a strong voice for modernizing zoning laws, expanding voter access, and improving environmental protections.
As House Chair of the Public Health Committee, she has played a vital role in expanding access to healthcare, mental health resources, and wellness initiatives across the state. Her leadership has also resulted in key legislative victories, such as the creation of Connecticut’s Vision Zero Council, which aims to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety.
