FAIRFIELD, CT — The racist graffiti recently found at a Fairfield preschool appears to be an isolated incident, according to police.

The vandalism was reported to law enforcement about 7 a.m. Aug. 6 by A Child's Garden on Mona Terrace, police said. Racial slurs were written in Sharpie on the back door of the business between the evening of Aug. 4 and early Aug. 5, according to police, who added that garbage and broken glass were scattered on the property between the night of Aug. 5 and the morning of Aug. 6.

“Right now it appears to be a one-off, and the racial slur did not appear to be directed at anyone in particular,” Lt. Edward Weihe said in an email to Patch, when asked if the incident could be related to racist graffiti found at multiple Fairfield schools in the spring.
