Update: Person Struck and Killed by Train in Fairfield
A person was struck and killed. Service was temporarily shut down, but has since resumed.

Update May 28: A middle-aged man died after jumping in front of the oncoming train, according to NBC Connecticut. Police haven’t identified him.
Update 7 p.m.; UPDATE New Haven Line: Residual Eastbound delays of 5-10 mins due to congestion from earlier Police Dept. activity near Fairfield Metro.

Update 4:50 p.m.: New Haven Line service has resumed between Southport and Bridgeport. Customers should expect residual delays of up to 20 minutes, according to Metro North
Update 4:20 p.m.: Metro-North reports on Twitter that New Haven line service is temporarily delayed between Southport and Bridgeport due to the incident.

Update 4:10 p.m.: The pedestrian was killed in the accident, according to the Connecticut Post. The train is stopped in the area of 450 Scofield Ave.
Update: The incident happened around 3:40 p.m. The train was due to arrive in New Haven at 4:06 p.m., according to NBC Connecticut.
Police and other emergency responders are on the scene for a report of a person being hit by a train near the Fairfield Metro station.
The accident happened east of the train station, according to the Connecticut Post.
Metro-North Railroad reports on Twitter that the New Haven line is delayed due to police activity.
