Republican Tony Hwang Wins 28th District State Senate Seat

Kim Fawcett conceded to Hwang, who wins former Senate Minority Leader John McKinney's seat.

Republican Tony Hwang has defeated Democrat Kim Fawcett for the 28th District State Senate seat, which was held by John McKinney, of Fairfield, who challenged Tom Foley in the GOP gubernatorial primary election.

With 34 percent of the precincts reporting, Hwang had 55 percent of the votes (5538) compared to 44 percent for Fawcett (4466). Fawcett conceded earlier in the night.

“I’m honored that the people of the 28th District have placed their trust in me to serve as their state Senator,” Hwang said via Twitter. “Thank you to everyone who voted today. Now it’s time to get to work!”
