Residents Speak Out Against Walgreen's Plan to Build New Store in Southport Section of Fairfield
Planning and Zoning Commission hearing continued until Oct. 14 to allow Walgreen's lawyer to make a rebuttal for the application.

Residents in the Southport section of town spoke against plans to build a new Walgreen’s pharmacy at a Fairfield Planning and Zoning Commission public hearing on the application Tuesday night, according to the Fairfield Citizen.
The Citizen reports that the hearing was closed to the public after three and a half hours, due to an 11 p.m. curfew for commission meetings, but the review was continued until Oct. 14 to allow Walgreen’s lawyer to make a rebuttal.
The Walgreens is being proposed to be built on properties at 3553 and 3571 Post Road and 886 Kings Highway and nearby residents voiced concerns about property values, traffic, crime and homeless people, according to the Citizen.
