Rob Blanchard: Leading on Energy and the Environment

Rob Blanchard has our votes for State Senator representing the 28th District — Bethel, Easton, Fairfield, and Newtown. As a member of Fairfield's RTM, Rob showed that he listens to diverse points of view and builds his positions from carefully weighed options, not talking points. We've watched him in action: he's bright, practical, and solutions-oriented, and he fights hard for the people he represents.

On energy, Rob wants Connecticut towns to have more say over what residents pay for power (including the option of towns’ purchasing power in bulk) along with steadier, more predictable pricing instead of bills that swing with the market. He believes affordability should be part of the conversation whenever regulators weigh in on utility profits and rate increases, and he supports giving consumer advocates more authority to push back on charges that don't hold up. He also wants closer scrutiny of infrastructure costs before they land on ratepayers, and more room for competition and local investment in resilient energy options that keep the lights on when storms hit.

We both started our careers in the environmental and energy fields as public policy consultants in Washington, DC., and remain committed to advocating best practices with respect to climate change. We fully endorse Rob’s positions in these areas. Rob is committed to protecting the natural spaces that make this district special while doing his part to address climate change. That means supporting a shift toward cleaner, renewable power, pushing for fairness so pollution doesn't keep concentrating in the same neighborhoods, and working with local land trusts to protect more of Connecticut's open space.

We welcome Rob's energy, his youth, and a candidate who treats affordability and environmental stewardship as the same fight, not competing ones. It's time for a change in this Senate seat. Rob Blanchard is the only qualified candidate in this race.
