Rob Blanchard: Standing Up for Local Dairy Farms

On November 3rd, the voters in Connecticut’s 28th will elect a new State Senator. I hope you will join me in supporting Rob Blanchard to represent us in Hartford.

There are many reasons Rob is getting my vote. Here’s one: Rob supports the Connecticut Federal Cuts Response Fund. This $500 million (total) state budget allocation backfills damage inflicted by the cuts and policies of the current administration. It’s a vital effort that helps support Connecticut residents and businesses.

One example of how the fund operates? It helps dairy farmers. Dozens of dairy farms in Connecticut have been struggling with the twofold blow of declining milk prices (set by the federal government) and increased costs for diesel fuel and fertilizer due to the ongoing war in Iran. To support local dairy production, the Connecticut Department of Agriculture has pledged more than $22 million in subsidies to local farms (including a favorite of mine: Shaggy Coos, in Easton).

Rob will work to keep the Federal Cuts Response Fund fully funded and extended; push for greater transparency and legislative input on how it's spent; and prioritize direct relief for small farms, nonprofits, and small businesses in our district.

When it comes to protecting Connecticut, Rob Blanchard is here for the fight. His opponent, however, is not. She has gone on record saying she would NOT have voted to establish this fund.
