Sasco Beach Worship Services begin Sunday, July 7th @ 8:15am!
Southport Congregational Church invites individuals of all affiliations to join in worship while in the splendor of Sasco Beach, Fairfield.
Fairfield residents and visitors are fortunate to be surrounded by magnificent seaside beauty. John Muir once noted, "No synonym for God is so perfect as beauty.” so it’s fitting that when the warm weather approaches we look forward to worshiping outdoors. This Sunday, July 2nd begins the first Sasco Beach service of the season. A wonderful tradition which began 31 years ago typically draws about 125 people -- as well as a few seagulls and other wild and domesticated creatures. These outdoor services provide a spectacular setting to celebrate life as we commune with God and one another. Participants dress casually in shorts and t-shirts - wearing sunglasses and sipping coffee while enjoying the music, messages, and savoring the scenery. Parishioners may arrive by car, kayak, on foot and bike. Beach chairs and blankets replace pews, and Long Island Sound dotted with sailboats serves as a scenic backdrop as waves splash softly on the shore. “To be outside seems to bring me closer to God” said one participant, “It’s a tranquil and beautiful way to start the day”. Services begin at 8:15AM and take place rain or shine. The ministers and congregations of Southport Congregational Church and First Church of Fairfield invite individuals of all ages and affiliations to worship God in the splendor of Sasco Beach. Please celebrate the abundance of love, life, comfort, peace, health, grace, and joy with us this summer. There is no cost to attend, and for more information please contact Pam Poling in the Southport Congregational Church office at 203-255-1594. Chapel services at Southport Congregational Church, 524 Pequot Ave., are at 10AM, and Fairfield First Congregational Church, 148 Beach Rd., are also still held throughout the summer at 10:15AM.
