School Zone Speed Limits Changed In Fairfield: Police

Certain roads throughout town will have new posted speed limits during school days.

FAIRFIELD, CT — With schools beginning next week in Fairfield and throughout Connecticut, the Fairfield Police Department is announcing the creation of new "School Speed Limit 20 MPH" zones on certain roads in town during school days.

The effort was approved by the state, and new signage will appear on several roads.

"As the start of school approaches, these signs will be installed in the coming days and will take effect upon installation," Fairfield police wrote on Facebook.

"The speed limits will be in effect in both directions on these roadways. The Fairfield Police Department urges all drivers to adhere to these new speed limits and help ensure the safety of our students."

Below are the roads/designated school zones where the new speed limits will be enforced during certain hours on school days:

7:15 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

𝘓𝘶𝘥𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭/𝘔𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘭𝘦 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭:
- Barlow Road (from Barlow Place to Unquowa Road)
- Unquowa Road (from Mill Plain Road to 740 feet east of Papermill Lane)

𝘞𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭:
- Knapps Highway (from Alvin Street to Melville Avenue)
- Melville Avenue (from Fairway Green to Old Farm Road)

𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬:
8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.
