My name is Katie Lawrence and I’m a senior citizen living in Fairfield CT. My husband and I have lived in Fairfield for over 49 years and I think Rob Blanchard and his ideas will be the right choice for Fairfield, and even more so, to the seniors living in lower Fairfield County. Rob wants to fight for tax cuts for seniors living on fixed incomes and trying to make sure everyone living in Fairfield, from those who are just starting out, to those who built this town, to be able to stay. Allowing seniors to stay in their homes or creating more accessible and affordable spaces when we might want to “downsize” to something smaller or something that is all on one floor is another idea Rob will fight for. Rob is looking for a way that makes prescription drugs more affordable and to hold the pharmaceutical companies more accountable. Along with this he wants to make sure seniors know about all the services that are available to them, such as transportation access to help people stay connected combating loneliness and isolation that is often experienced as we age. Also, investing in more job training for younger people in the healthcare work force who will be the ones often providing care for us as we age. These are just a few of Rob’s ideas for seniors who live in his district and I hope this adds a little knowledge as we all go to the ballot box on Tuesday November 3 (or vote early or by mail!)
